Another fatal accident in the city kills a female pedestrian

The pattern of pedestrians being run down and killed by vehicles in New York City continued with the latest incident occurring recently in Morningside Heights on Amsterdam Avenue near W. 112th Street. A United Coach Line charter bus crushed a 68-year-old female under its front wheels as it pulled out of its parked spot and hooked onto the woman, dragging her under the vehicle. She had been standing near the front passenger side waiting to cross the street prior to the occurrence of the fatal accident.

Elderly woman hit by cab, succumbs to pedestrian injury

The toll of pedestrians being mowed down on New York City's streets continued on the afternoon of May 9 with the occurrence of a fatal accident in the middle of 60th Street and Madison Avenue. A woman in her 70s succumbed to pedestrian injury after being hit by a cab while she crossed the street in the crosswalk. The cab, which was making a left turn, appears to have been operated in a negligent manner, and if so, would be civilly liable for damages to the woman's estate.

Daily News driver dies from fatal accident with green cab

When an intersection collision between two vehicles results in the death or serious personal injury of one or more participants, it is usually necessary to determine the percentage of fault that may be attributed to each driver. In New York and other states, the fault determination dictates if either party is legally responsible to compensate those who have been injured or killed in the fatal accident. In some cases, it may be necessary to use a forensic accident reconstruction expert to render an opinion on which driver was at fault, or to state the percentage of the comparative fault of each.
