Car accident in New York injures 4 victims on Long Island

An accident can happen to anyone at anytime. However, most people would not expect to become the victim of a car accident while simply waiting to see their doctor. Several victims were recently injured when a woman drove her vehicle into a medical building in New York.

A pediatric office in Smithtown was recently evacuated after a vehicle reportedly crashed into the front of the building. The driver, a 75-year-old woman, was injured as a result of the car accident, along with three other victims that were in the doctor’s office. The injured victims, one of which was a 9-year-old boy, were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Thankfully, their injuries were not life threatening.

Immediately following the crash, several people remained trapped inside the office building, as well as in the vehicle. Multiple rescue crews responded to the scene to provide assistance in the aftermath. An investigation into what might have caused the accident is currently underway.

While the details surrounding the car accident remain unclear at this time, the injured victims could elect to pursue a personal injury claim in civil court if the driver is found to have acted with negligence. In New York, victims seriously injured as a result of another party’s negligent behavior reserve the right to seek financial relief for their losses. The associated cost of an accident, such as medical expenses, often places unexpected financial burdens on the injured victims and their families. A successfully litigated personal injury claim may provide the victims with much-needed assistance to ensure their financial recovery after a costly accident.
