New York pedestrian accident: 4 crashes, 1 killed and 3 injured

A recent string of auto-pedestrian accidents around New York resulted in the death of at least one individual and injuries for three others. The surviving victims have suffered severe injuries, which is not uncommon following an event such as a pedestrian accident. Their current conditions are unknown.

According to a recent report, several accidents occurred on April 20 in the Brooklyn area. In the morning, a 33-year-old male was riding his bike when he was struck and killed by a semi trailer. The truck driver is expected to be cited for driving on a road that is not an approved truck route.

A few hours later, a 67-year-old woman was struck in a crosswalk. The driver — a 68-year-old male — was making a left hand turn when his vehicle struck the woman. According to a witness, she was badly hit and had what seemed to be a significant amount of internal bleeding. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Later in the afternoon, two boys were struck at other intersections — one in Brooklyn and the other in the Bronx. A 6-year-old boy was struck by a sedan and suffered critical injuries. The final accident involved an 11-year-old boy, who was struck by a sedan. The force of impact sent the child flying. He was taken to a hospital in traumatic arrest.

A pedestrian accident, whether it results in injury or fatality, often has devastating effects. In each of these cases, if the drivers who hit the victims are found negligent in causing the crashes, the victims’ or their surviving family members may be entitled to compensation. Wrongful death, personal injury or any other applicable legal claims that are filed and successfully litigated in a New York civil court could result in the filing parties achieving monetary relief for any recoverable losses experienced.
