According to reports, a 26-year-old male, for reasons unknown, drove his vehicle at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction on a sidewalk and hit a group of pedestrians in Times Square. A total of 22 people were injured and a teenage girl lost her life in the incident. A few of the injured refused medical treatment, while the rest were transported to a hospital for care. At least four individuals are said to have suffered serious injuries.
The driver is said to be a Bronx native with a history of driving while impaired. It is still unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in this particular accident.
