Family of woman left to die may pursue wrongful death claim

Recently in New York, a man crashed his car and allegedly left his passenger to die in the vehicle while he fled the scene. This tragic incident is said to have occurred Friday, Oct. 13. The victim's family may, according to state laws, be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim in an effort to seek compensation for this unimaginable loss.

Injured in a ride-share car accident?

Lyft, Uber and various other ride-share services have popped up over the years. They are very popular in New York and all across the country, as they are easy to access, relatively inexpensive and make getting around town a little less stressful. What happens, though, if one is injured in a ride-share car accident?

Stay safe when walking around construction zones

Construction zones are part of the everyday landscape for many people in New York City. Some of these projects are public and result in museums, libraries, senior centers and much more that enhance life every day for countless people. Private construction projects such as condo buildings are also essential. However, construction zones can pose a danger to pedestrians. After all, there is a reason that construction workers are more at risk for injury than other workers; construction zones are inherently dangerous.

Lose your spouse in a fatal car accident?

You were going about your day. Nothing seemed unusual about it -- just another day. Then you get the call that no one wants to receive -- your spouse was the victim of a fatal car accident. If negligence on the part of the other driver contributed to the event, according to the laws of New York, you may have legal recourse.

How common are falls among older Americans?

Falls are the single-largest reason Americans visit the emergency room each year, and statistics show your risk of slipping and falling and injuring or dying as a result increases alongside your age. The National Floor Safety Institute reports that in addition to facing an elevated risk of a slip-and-fall injury as you get older, you also face a greater risk if you are a female.
