Alleged drunk driver causes wrong-way crash

Police in New York are in the process of investigating a crash that injured seven people. This incident occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, Feb. 9. Authorities believe a drunk driver is responsible for the incident.

According to a recent report, at approximately 3:10 a.m. in Yonkers, a car was traveling northbound on the Bronx River Parkway when it was struck by a vehicle heading in the wrong direction. Six people in the car suffered injuries, and all were transported to a hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been reported. All three lanes of traffic were blocked for some time as investigators and cleanup crews worked the scene.

The wrong-way driver was also injured and taken for medical care. Details regarding the severity of his injuries were not reported. Police have arrested this individual on suspicion of driving while impaired. As of the latest report, charges have yet to be officially filed against this gentleman. Toxicity test results have not been released to the public.

Impaired drivers on New York roads poses a very serious problem. Six people’s lives were recently turned upside down thanks to one man’s decision to get behind the wheel when he likely shouldn’t have. Anyone injured by a drunk driver, or driver under the influence of any impairing substance, may have legal recourse. Personal injury claims can be filed and fought in civil court. If successful, fair and full compensation may be awarded for any and all documented damages — whether they are economic or non-economic in nature.
