Pedestrian accident involving MTA bus kills 1

An elderly woman in New York recently lost her life when she was struck by an MTA bus. This incident occurred the evening of Sept. 5, in Brooklyn. The bus driver is now facing charges for his role in this pedestrian accident.

According to a local news report, the 81-year-old woman was crossing the street when the 62-year-old bus driver failed to yield and struck her. The victim was promptly transported to an area hospital. Sadly, her injuries were too significant and she later died.

According to a spokesman for the Transport Workers Union, the driver has many years experience behind the wheel and has a clean driving record. He is devastated by this event. The union is in the process of investigating this incident. In the meantime, law enforcement officials are prepared to charge the driver with failure to exercise care and failure to yield.

Losing a loved one in a fatal pedestrian accident can devastate one's family emotionally and financially. If negligence is thought to have contributed to such an event, the victim's surviving family members may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses. In this particular case, legal claims may be filed against the driver and his employer in an effort to seek monetary damages for any and all documented losses sustained by the victim's loved ones. An experienced attorney will have the ability to assist in filing the appropriate claims and negotiating the matter out of court or litigating the case in a New York civil court.
