Brooklyn nurse killed in bicycle accident

Many New York area residents use their bicycles to get around. Riding a bike can be good exercise but it can also be an efficient way to get to and from a destination. Most of the time a person is able to safely share the road with others but occasionally a serious bike accident occurs. Recently a nurse was killed in a tragic accident on her way home from work.

Tragic accident claims nurse’s life

A woman who was riding her bike home from her overnight shift at the NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn was hit by a motorcycle and killed. The woman was biking east along 56th Street when she was hit by a motorcycle traveling north on Third Ave. The woman was pronounced dead at the same hospital where she worked. The accident is still under investigation.

Families affected by an accident should speak with an attorney

No one expects their loved one is going to be a victim in a tragic accident. Unfortunately, many families have to go through this reality each year. When a family unexpectedly loses a loved one, they not only have to go through the grief but also the financial impact the loss can have. A legal professional who is skilled in personal injury can help these families understand what happened to cause the accident. They can visit the accident scene, interview witnesses and review the police report to help get answers as to what happened and who is at fault. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, funeral expenses and other damages.

Losing a loved one in an unexpected accident can be a traumatic and devastating event. It is important to understand what happened to cause the accident and who is at fault. Victims of these accidents do have legal rights.
