Drunk Driving Accidents Archives

Drunk driving is a problem at both the state and national levels

How many people get one or a few drinks in their system and then get behind the wheel of a car? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is well over 100 million people a year. With so many people making this decision, it is amazing that more people in New York and elsewhere are not injured or killed in drunk driving-related incidents.

Lose a loved one to a drunk driver?

It is unfortunate that, even though the vast majority of people know that impaired driving can have severe consequences, it does not stop people from doing it. Sadly, this behavior results in numerous fatalities every year in New York and across the country. Losing a loved one to a drunk driver challenges one's emotions and can be financially devastating to boot.

Retailer responsibility following a drunk driver accident

New York is full of bars, restaurants, grocery stores and other establishments that sell alcohol. When a patron leaves an alcohol retailer, many believe that the establishment has no responsibility for that person's actions after he or she is out the door. Thankfully, due to dram shop laws, this is not necessarily the case. An alcohol retailer may, under the right circumstances, be held partially responsible for the actions of a drunk driver.

Impaired driving believed responsible for fatal crash

In New York on March 16, a young man was driving his vehicle when he crashed, ripping his car in two. In the vehicle with him were two individuals, one of whom died in the wreck. Authorities believe that impaired driving is responsible for this tragic event.

Injured by a drunk driver -- can I seek compensation?

Accidents caused by impaired drivers occur all too frequently on New York roadways. It is not uncommon for an accident caused by a drunk driver to result in significant losses for the victim. If you have been injured in a collision caused by an impaired driver, you may have legal recourse.
