1 dead, 2 injured in recent car accident in Manhattan

The New York City Police Department are in the process of investigating a crash that left two people injured and one dead. This car accident occurred in the Washington Heights area in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 16. At least one of the injured and the family members of the deceased individual may be entitled to pursue damages for their losses through legal means.

According to reports, a 25-year-old woman was operating her vehicle near St. Nicholas Avenue and West 172th Street when she collided with another car. Instead of remaining at the scene of the crash, she fled at a high rate of speed. Within a few minutes, she crashed into another vehicle on West 190th Street. This time it was a parked, but occupied, construction truck. The construction worker suffered minor injuries in the collision, the fleeing driver suffered critical injuries and the passenger in her vehicle died at the scene.

Few other details about this incident have been reported to the public. So far, speed has been listed at the only contributing factor in this case. Authorities have not indicated what, if any, charges may be filed against the party believed responsible.

Auto collisions like this seem to be happening quite frequently in New York as of late. When it comes to this particular car accident case, one family is left without their loved one and have to deal with the emotional and financial consequences associated with his death. Another individual is left with injuries that may have a number of negative effects on his or her life now and in the future. Thankfully, the surviving victim and the family members of the deceased may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses by pursuing civil claims in court. Legal counsel can review the finer details of this case and help those who wish to seek relief do so.
