5 construction workers hurt in truck accident

Police in New York are investigating a crash that left five construction workers injured. This event occurred the morning of Saturday, March 21, on the RFK Bridge. As the victims of this truck accident were on the clock at the time of the crash, they may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses through both workers’ compensation benefits and third-party legal claims.

According to reports, at approximately 8 a.m., the construction workers parked their flatbed truck on the RFK Bridge, where they were scheduled to work on a project. Shortly after parking their vehicle, it was struck from behind by a box truck. Two of the construction workers were thrown from the flatbed. One suffered critical injuries while the other’s injuries were described as serious. The three other workers suffered minor injuries in the wreck.

The driver of the box truck — a 25-year-old male — is said to be working with police as they investigate this matter. As of the latest report, no charges have been filed against this individual. It is unclear if charges are expected in the coming days.

There is a lot involved in this truck accident. The injured workers may wish to pursue relief through their workers’ compensation benefits, as they should. However, as these benefits often fail to cover all losses experienced following an on-the-job injury, they may wish to file personal injury claims in a New York civil court against the truck driver and his employer in an effort to seek further compensation. If truck driver negligence is believed a factor in this case, with the assistance of counsel, the victims may be able to successfully achieve maximum relief through negotiations or, if necessary, litigation.
