Impaired driving thought responsible for fatal accident

A New York teenager recently lost his life in a single-vehicle accident the day after Christmas. Impaired driving is thought responsible for the collision. If negligence can be established against the driver, the victim's surviving family members may be able to successfully pursue compensation for their losses.

2 injured, 1 killed in New York car accident

Police in New York are investigating the cause of an auto wreck that killed one individual and left two others injured. This car accident occurred Sunday, Dec. 17, in the Dyker Heights area. If either driver is thought to have been negligent in his or her actions leading to this incident, he or she may be held legally accountable for the losses suffered by the victims and their families.

Why older pedestrians are more at risk

For many people in New York City, walking is a fun activity that allows them to exercise while getting places. Win-win. However, being a pedestrian is not without its share of risks, and they seem especially high for pedestrians 65 and older. In fact, city data show that the death rate for pedestrians per 100,000 people in this age group is 5.7 people. It is a much leaner 1.7 people for those aged 18 to 64 and drops to 0.6 for children 17 and younger.
